Early in 2009, I came south from the Tweed to the Village of Ulmarra, That’s about 14 km North of Grafton on the Pacific Highway. almost midway between Brisbane and Sydney. I moved into my 100 year old house and took a walk along Coldstream Street, where I stumbled upon the WIDE RIVER CAFE.
I sat myself down and took up the practice of LUNCHING at the WIDE RIVER. They call it a sandwich bar – and the sandwich of the day is Bully Beef and Pickles. Its been BULLY BEEF and PICKLES ever since May 2009 , but me. I have toasted cheese, avocado and onion and I follow it with a banana smoothie.
That doesn’t tell you about Lizzy’s home baked pies and cakes. It doesn’t describe the powerful COLD REMEDY juice that Andrew mixes and which has kept all germs far from me all through the winter.
It doesn’t describe the ceramics and the beautiful art of the women. Nor does it tell you about the kiln out the back where it is baked and the SHELLBOUND magic across the Breezeway in Robyn’s Place.

Sundays, now that the Breezeway has been paved and the tables set up for a goodly crowd, the WIDE RIVER CAFE is bringing in the Music . 10-2.
